Dr Seuss' The Lorax 3D (U)
MWLDAN 1
Chris Renaud | 2012 | USA | 93’
The co-director of Despicable Me turns the popular Dr. Seuss book into The Lorax, a candy-coloured feel-good anti-consumerist musical that’s packed with a winningly whimsical Seussian spirit. In the walled city of Thneedville where everything is artificial, a boy named Ted hopes to win the heart of his dream girl, Audrey. When he learns of her wish to see a real tree, Ted seeks out the Once-ler, a hipster who found a paradise of trees that look like furry lollipops, then cut them all down to get rich. But Ted is inspired to undo the disaster. This is excellent, solid family entertainment to enjoy with a cautionary environmental message – it’s vibrant, touching, entertaining, visually beautiful, funny and very sweet.
